The Poet’s Lunch Break

(Not familiar with the Sevenling form? You can read all about it HERE. Fair Warning: Addictive)

Sevenling (she’s his favorite)

She’s his favorite waitress;
always serving up some tasty sonnets for lunch,
quadrilles as metaphor for dessert.

He hates to finish his meal;
never fails to tip her a happy little limerick,
a shiny simile, a couple unrhymed couplets.

She’s become his blue-plate special.

I’m very happy that the d’Verse Poets’ Pub has returned from a two-week hiatus, and grateful to Kim for providing our Quadrille challenge.

  1. I love this. I haven’t written a sevenling in a long time. I’ve been addicted to haiku and senryu lately. Poetry forms can certainly be addictive. You can never write just one.

  2. I’m happy that the Pub is open again and to read you quadrille, Ron. I love the title, the playfulness of the imagery, and ‘quadrilles as metaphor for dessert’. Oh, to be tipped a happy little limerick, a shiny simile or an unrhymed couplet!
