It’s Quadrille Monday again at the dVerse Poets Pub; time to create a 44-word poem. This week, we’re asked to create a poem using the word “Groove ” or some word that incorporates it.
Thanks to De Jackson (aka WhimsyGizmo) for hosting and getting us started.

Play It Again, John
It’s my all-time favorite song,
so I don’t mind that the vinyl’s scarred
and the needle just keeps right on
hopping back into that same groovy groove
asking us to Imagine all the people
living life in peace / imagine all the people…

Quadrille Monday #135
~ Groove Thang ~

Yep, you probably wore the groove out all the way through the vinyl on that song. Good job other other Ron.
Ron, I saw the movie “The Killing Fields” ages ago and when the film ended. as the credits rolled, “Imagine” played. Already sobbing from the movie .. the song totally did me in. I was with a friend who had the same reaction to film/music. We sat in our seats for at least fifteen minutes trying to ‘absorb’ it all. Thank you for writing this wonderful quadrille.
Imagine if we just stayed in that groove ourselves, literally. Ah, peace. Love this.
Imagine ❤️
I too luv that Beatles song.
Enjoyed your poem
Much💛love
If only we could move beyond the imagining…nice write.
WOW my favourite song as well. check out the playing for change version it is powerful. loved you groove
Nice lyrics to get stuck on.
Yes to Lennon’s imagined world and to the record that keeps repeating those beautiful lines. Fellow dreamer here.
I love that song, so timeless with the message.
Oh would that we could be “livin’ life in peace”.
I never get tired of hearing that song Ron. Who cares if it ever gets stuck in the groove, right ? Peace and love ☮️🌼✌️❤️
Loved it Ron! You went for peace & love ✌🏼 I went for lust & craving 😜 … you took the higher road… 😉
Love this one, Ron! Some songs we just have to play again and again.
I can well imagine the groove. It’s a beautiful song of hope, Ron.
Imagine what a groovy groove to be in! World peace…what more could one ask!
Wonderful. You made me to look at his memorial in Central Park. And Strawberry Fields, too. 🙂 Touching.
It’s funny how listening to a favourite album on CD or download just isn’t the same – no scratches or jumps in the right places; very jarring – which is ridiculous, in theory, but proves that perfection isn’t always a good thing.
Loved this poem.
Love this one! Yep….the needle used to skip to the groove most used….or sadly, to the scratch that somehow got on the album and then it just repeated and repeated and repeated. I remember the days of vinyl records….my record player that could play albums 33 1/3 RPM and then I had to put a little disk think in the bigger hole of the individual 45s so it could fit on the spindle, then move the dial/indicator from 33 to 45 and voila, I could listen to the singles and groove out to them! 🙂 And oh yes, this was indeed one of my favorite songs…it’s message is timeless, right?
I think if we all imagined a world like this it would come true… yes it’s a very good song…
I’m trying to imagine it right now, guys!
❤

Vinyl has a lower quality sound, but a higher quality experience. I remember when this song was first recorded. It had great power even then.
