Again & Again, Still

It’s Quadrille Monday again at the dVerse Poets Pub; time to create a 44-word poem. This week, we’re asked to create a poem using the word “Groove ” or some word that incorporates it.

Thanks to De Jackson (aka WhimsyGizmo) for hosting and getting us started.

Play It Again, John

It’s my all-time favorite song,
so I don’t mind that the vinyl’s scarred
and the needle just keeps right on
hopping back into that same groovy groove
asking us to Imagine all the people
living life in peace /  imagine all the people…

  1. Ron, I saw the movie “The Killing Fields” ages ago and when the film ended. as the credits rolled, “Imagine” played. Already sobbing from the movie .. the song totally did me in. I was with a friend who had the same reaction to film/music. We sat in our seats for at least fifteen minutes trying to ‘absorb’ it all. Thank you for writing this wonderful quadrille.

  2. It’s funny how listening to a favourite album on CD or download just isn’t the same – no scratches or jumps in the right places; very jarring – which is ridiculous, in theory, but proves that perfection isn’t always a good thing.

    Loved this poem.

  3. Love this one! Yep….the needle used to skip to the groove most used….or sadly, to the scratch that somehow got on the album and then it just repeated and repeated and repeated. I remember the days of vinyl records….my record player that could play albums 33 1/3 RPM and then I had to put a little disk think in the bigger hole of the individual 45s so it could fit on the spindle, then move the dial/indicator from 33 to 45 and voila, I could listen to the singles and groove out to them! 🙂 And oh yes, this was indeed one of my favorite songs…it’s message is timeless, right?
