The No-Show Show

It’s Quadrille Monday again at the dVerse Poets Pub; time to create a 44-word poem.

This week our host, De Jackson (aka WhimsyGizmo) asks us to create a poem using the word “Gasp” or some word that incorporates it.

The No-Show Show

He was a better magician than expected;
far better than advertised.

He’d done his vanishing act before,
almost a million times, but tonight

things were different. Tonight
he’d vanished sooner and

more completely than ever before,
leaving the audience gasping,

gobsmacked, demanding a refund.

  1. Can’t you just picture that: the incredulousness that he disappeared! Then reality sets in: “Hey! We want our money back!” Well done, Ron.

  2. I can picture it so clearly! The crowd furious at the absence of the magician .. their evening ruined. Excellent write, Ron! ❤️
