Model Knows Best

It didn’t matter how often
or how many different ways
Lenny painted Lisa; didn’t matter
how she was dressed or
where he directed her to look
or whatever background he added.
None of that stuff mattered.
One thing refused to be edited:
even after a dozen sittings
her one-of-a-kind gaze
just kept superimposing itself.
Thank God.
