It’s Quadrille Monday again at the dVerse Poets Pub; time to create a 44-word poem.
This week, we’re asked to create a poem using the word “Nibble” or some word that incorporates it.
Thanks to Mish for hosting and getting us started.

My time’s running out.
I don’t hold back
on anything
anymore.
I used to
take it easy on
almost everything:
said nice things to old folks;
showed tolerance for children;
complimented my own mirror image.
Those days are gone.
I’d rather starve than nibble.

~ Nibble ~

I like your use of the word here. It’s an interesting image. A great manifesto.
I think sometimes we can let ourselves just eat everything… there is a time to nibble and another to gobble.
Sometimes nibbling will not do.
It’s a sad choice. Nibbling’s not so bad if you have champagne to go with it.
There are many different forms of starving…and much about the spiritual dimension…
There’s a hunger and heaviness to this, Rob…an honest write.
Ron, sorry!
Powerful and I can really appreciate the openness of the message. It made me think about why it is we hold back for so long.
Excellent, and nibbles are for those who have the time to nibble.
I think as we get older… nibbling doesn’t always suffice!
I can appreciate the impulse to chew off great hunks with gusto. There is definitely a time and place for that.
I took in the penultimate stanza. Such honesty had me reflecting.
I think as we get older we all lose patience with how much we’re willing to swallow. You voiced that well.
speechless with this one.
It’s like playing cards with a super slowpoke. PLAY ALREADY! I hear ya.
Ooohhh! That is more than a nibble! Nice!
Great poem.
There is a hint of sadness and heaviness in the ending lines.
Oh yes. The last line and the harsh perspective. Stubborn and true. Thanks for sharing, Ron.
Chomping at the bit, eh Ron?
Oh that’s a good one Ron. That really makes you think. I guess we are all getting older. Been there and done that!
“I’d rather starve than nibble.” – this speaks volumes.
Absolutely, Ron!
very clever, Sir!
❤

Yeah, full steam ahead!
There are days ~~~ when blunt truth works best! … cheers, Ron.
