This week at dVerse Poets Pub, Grace wants us to write a Minute Poem, meeting the following structural form. Mine may not be so “narrative” or very “humorous” but otherwise…
The Minute Poem is:
1. narrative poetry.
2. a 12 line poem made up of 3 quatrains. (3 of 4-line stanzas)
3. syllabic, 8-4-4-4 8-4-4-4 8-4-4-4 (First line has 8 syllables of each stanza. Remaining lines has 4 syllables in each stanza)
4. rhymed, rhyme scheme of aabb ccdd eeff.
5. description of a finished event (preferably something done is 60 seconds).
6. is best suited to light verse, likely humorous, whimsical or semi-serious.

Playing Reveille
………(for Carol Anne)
Come on; come on! Get up! Get up!
(I’ve poured your cup.)
It’s not too late
to percolate.
You can’t just spend the day in bed
just playing dead.
Do as I say:
Arise! Let’s play!
I bought this coffee just for you!
Your favored brew!
So have no fear:
it’s really beer.

Haha! brilliant! It’s not too late
to percolate.! But the last two lines….!
Oy. It’s five o’clock somewhere….
That was fun!
I love this…he..he……Cheers to the beer!
great fun
So funny and original, who would not like it!
Love the way this turned out 😂
So much fun!
Delightful.
Good one Ron!
You made me laugh out loud Ron — splendid and wonderful… beer… hahaha
Sounds like a mad minute!
Um, beer would have a whole different way of getting you “percolated.” Now I understand your comment to me…dang!
Ha. Did you do that in a minute???? Applause, either way.
haha, loved it, the ending really made me laugh out loud!
You say it’s not your style, but you made it work. I like the ‘late’ ‘percolate’ rhyme too—clever. And you got rhythm.
The ending left me laughing hard. A good one!
This is such an empowering write, Ron! Cheers! 😀
Wow! Coffee to beer in a minute! Only you can do this, Ron! Thanks for the laughs.
😊 luv both coffee and beer.
Nice minute
Much love…
😀 😀 😀
Oh, I love the twist at the end! Great work.
I gave up coffee. This poem makes me want to drink it again.
Coffee scares me more than beer
