It’s Quadrille Monday again at the dVerse Poets Pub; time to create a 44-word poem using the word (or encompassing the concept of) EMBRACE.
Thanks to Merril for hosting and getting us started.

Afterward
There might still be enough daylight
through the window’s crystals
to illuminate the canary walls;
the sun might still shine
as it had always shone;
but now, neither the room’s empty air
nor the things upon which it shone
would benefit from its embrace.

~ EMBRACE ~

So poignant. It leave me wondering what this place was and what happened.
This is brilliantly executed, Ron. The quadrille leaves much to be ruminated. I love; “the canary walls.” 🙂
Uh oh, too late! Spaced the embrace.
intrigue at it’s best ….
Interesting, there is enough space for the reader to fill in appreciations
Ron
Happy Monday
Much💗love
I don’t know that any embrace could fix this.
Your poem left me sad ….. which means of course that it was a success.
One of those watershed moments. Nicely captured in a few words and just the right title.
There is a chill right in the middle of this piece. The scenario I saw was an apartment with no electricity, no heat, and three hungry kids, and a sick old dog. A touch of William Faulkner too.
Waiting for the day to turn normal is really difficult. Great poem Ron.
I feel such a sadness as if I had experienced a great loss. The room devoid of life and sunshine. A wonderful write Ron. Wow!
I think forensics will show up shortly… this packed a punch 👊
It’s so lovely. Spring flingish, but also sad. I love your canary walls. 🙂
The title foreshadowed the feeling I got when I read your poem, Ron, kind of empty and lost. An excellent capture of emotion.
Seeped in sadness this room. We don’t need to know any more.
You portray a deep and inconsolable sadness so poignantly here.
Life has changed, grief, sorrow, strong emotions rise in me, a tour de force.
I sense there is more than meets the eye here! I love the canary walls.
Ron, this is surrounded by an air of mystery…
I mostly feel a room burdened with loss… and being left alone… it feels that the only thing good with the sun is that shadows become visible.
