I know you see me
as the old guy
I am.
I know you see me.
I know you see me clearly.
These days I do my best
not to hide; not to hide
anything.
Let me explain:
I used to have my secrets;
but those days are gone.
Gone, gone, gone. Now
I’ve got nothing to hide.
Don’t get me wrong:
I am not wise; I offer
no easy solutions.
All I know for certain
is what I’ve seen before
a million million times.
Trust me;
I know how this story ends.
I’ve been there.
Whatever they’re telling you
(sweet as it sounds)
won’t be true tomorrow.
And there is no tomorrow.
There’s only today
a million million times.
Sooner or later I’ll be gone
and you’ll be the oldie
trying to explain.
This much I know.

Love this! There is a certain amount of wisdom that we acquire as we grow older, don’t we? 🙂
Indeed Ron life goes on and on and on, today’s solutions may not fit tomorrow’s square pegs but wisdom outlast us all
(✿◠‿◠)
much love…
Never leave until what you can do today. How true this is Ron.
So true! I so get this. Well done, Ron. Really nice structure and rythm too.
My thoughts exactly …. in a much more coherent, meaningful way! Cheers.
there is nothing new under the sun, eh?
Well, but it’s good that with age we lose pretence.
And there is no tomorrow.
There’s only today
a million million times.
🤩👍🥳 — amen!
Life goes on and always leaves someone carrying the weight of trying to explain it all.
This is so well done, Ron. Another comes along to carry the burden.
Isn’t that the truth. However, imagine the feeling of those that haven’t done much in their lives and are facing the same situation. We should always create our own happiness rather than regret what we didn’t do.
