A Wake, Upon Waking

4AM Body Count

If all my fellow Americans
killed by the COVID
were laid out head to toe
beside the highway
and I drove by them at 60
(a mile a minute)
without a single rest stop
I’d be cruising
the deadly landscape
14 hours (900 miles)
weeping

  1. Powerful depiction. I’m driving to Minnesota (from Texas) next week – 17 hours – your words set a new perspective on both that road trip and the COVID crisis.
Luckily the rate has slowed enough that we can now cope with the bodies vs needing to stack ’em up in holding cues (or line ’em up along roadsides).
