All She Was Saying

It’s Quadrille Monday again at the dVerse Poets Pub; time to create a 44-word poem.
This week, we’re asked to create a poem using the word “Fair” or some word that incorporates it.
Thanks to Linda Lee Lyberg for hosting and getting us started.

All She Was Saying

She tried to get her finicky son
to eat his least favorite veggies
by unfairly misquoting John Lennon;
by saying that they’d hung out together
waaaay back in the ‘70s; by reminding him
it was John who wrote the lyric:
Give peas a chance

  1. I’ll never hear the song again without think of this poem, Ron! Wonderful humorous ending to my rather bleak weekend at a family funeral.
