No Exit

No Exit

Even now, ages later
there he is, beside her.

She’s locked the doors
chewed up the road

driven to the moon and back.
But miles don’t matter.

There he is, always beside her;
never in the rear-view mirror.

He takes his vows seriously.

  1. Reminds me of my In-laws (may they rest) – did some adventure traveling once they retired. Always together. But they got along – because they also had separated things they enjoyed.

    Kinda like now with me and mine. We go places – but not quite joined at the hip. No exit… kind of implies to me something a tad sinister…
