Sevenling (he chains himself) *
He chains himself to the keyboard.
Buckles down. Ties himself in knots.
Tries and tries and tries. Fails.
He can only manage half a dozen
lines, a feeble image or two, but
nothing of any interest. Nothing.
Then he spots the open link…

HAH! LOVE this! And oh yes, sevenlings are addictive. Actually, having started to write poetry just 6 years ago, I find writing addictive! Almost of any kind….except sonnets. Tacking those beats, stressed ones…stresses me so I’ll take a sevenling any day! 🙂
Such fun. Love the wordplay! 😀
Hahahahahaha lovely! 💝💝 Love me a good Sevenling 😀
This poem, while humorous, is also wistful, Ron, and a little sad. These lines made me feel quite emotional:
‘…Ties himself in knots.
Tries and tries and tries. Fails.’
I’m sure we’ve all been thankful for the open link from time to time.
First, I have to say that I relate to this, and I’m lucky that I’d already written a poem earlier in the day. Second, thank you for introducing me to sevenlings, Ron – I look forward to trying my hand at a few!

Great sevenling. We’ve all experienced the try and try/fail syndrome. Thank heavens it passes.
Ha ha… d’Verse will do that to you… Practice Practice Practice!
Hurrah for open link night and all the dverse prompts! They always get my creative juices up and running when my mind is in blank mode. Cool sevenling Ron!
A feeling I’m sure many writers as familiar with. I’ve not come across this form before, thank you for the introduction.
The open link can be the door into our creativity. I do know the feeling of pushing too hard and nothing coming together though. I think it’s called burnout!
Sometimes it only takes an open link.
Excellent post for this April 1st. Be nobody’s fool Ron — never give up.
Open Link to the rescue …. yippee ki yay!!
