  1. I share your dread of the Winter juggernaut, and have found it, despite the holidays, my least favorite solstice.

  2. I love the way you bring space and time together in the final lines: ‘even now, miles and years away.’ They are two sides of the same coin, after all – so people a lot cleverer than me have proved!

  3. I love the simplicity of this poem, Ron, and how the spaces contain everything that is implied, except for the ‘breeze-rustled leaves’ – all in an exhalation.

  4. I love so the way sound can carry us past the constructs of time and space. A simple exhalation and the world’s leaves rustle in response. Your words are powerful and resonate deeply.

  5. I like the hyphenation of “breeze-rustled leaves”. They are definitely a trigger for him in this piece….perhaps deeper than we know.

  6. Melancholy musings of a spirit locked away. I always thought, next to family, I would miss the natural world most. There are many ways to be imprisoned — health being one. Good one Ron… 🙂
