Snapshot
The sun still gilded the garden wall
late in the afternoon, where women stood in shawls
and wide-brimmed summer hats; and violets, straying
along the footpath where they stood, swayed.
But only for an imaginary instant;
then it was winter again, cold and immobile.

Seasons come and seasons go. When will this pandemic season end!
Happy Monday Ron
Much✏love
Wow, such brilliant and dark imagery here, Ron. I love this so much, especially with the change in the seasons. It feels so quick! What a great take on the prompt; this is quite a beautiful poem.
I’m so ready for a break in our hot weather, and your poem was a welcome respite.
The seasons we enjoy the most seem to be the briefest.
Lovely! We are experiencing a harsh and hot summer at the moment.. so I am waiting desperately for winter to come 🙂
It’s summer here and though it is hot I am enjoying it as I fear we will be back inside soon enough. Especially if cases start to uptick. sigh
Given the nature of this year thus far, I think I will welcome winter and a hasty end to 2020. Nicely expressed.
I like the sharp turn this quadrille took from the vivid summer scene to the chill of winter. I can relate. Enjoying every moment of this weather.
Wow. Your poem is quite a wake-up call. Well done.
Your garden image was like a French impressionist painting… like a short and wonderful dream
It’s true that the growing season is so quick and the cold comes before we are ready to give it all up.
gives new meaning to snap… shot ~
Beautiful imagery here👍🏽
You can’t lose that image of hope! it is so important to retain! Love the image of the women at the wall conversing!
