Devoutly To Be Wished

(Not familiar with the Sevenling form? It’s one of my favorites. You can read all about it HERE. Fair warning: Addictive.)

Sevenling (I don’t want)

I don’t want to be an astronaut
floating in space, or an earthbound nomad
wandering the desert, surrounded by nothing.

I’d rather be lost in the woods, sheltered
by oak and elm and maple; growth so dense
it erases all horizons, stifles all evil echoes.

Put me back under my rock, please.

  1. WOW. Stunning work here. Sometimes, I wish I was under a rock but in a nice, quaint forest too…

    Such is life. Excellent piece!

  2. You speak for me! Space and the desert hold no charm. My heart is happiest in company of lush green trees!

  3. I love the form and this makes me think of an animal that needs to be hiding under its rock, or us as I am quite enjoying retreating from the world in this lockdown, but more difficult for younger people.

  4. Not sure if I’ve dabble in this form yet, but I should! Fun stuff. I really enjoyed the contrasts that you chose as a fellow forest-lover.
