Water is deep in shadow under the bridge.
I try to steal even a glimpse of the sunshine
carried away by the swiftly moving current,
but I’m mesmerized by the movement and
the glint of it all, by the hypnotic rush,
the burble which draws me in utterly,
leaves me dazed, awestruck and staring,
and washes away all sense of time and
proportion, all sense of purpose, all sense.
Headlong into darkness,
I am flowing like the river.
