(An oldie, revised because if I can’t write, I revise)
I Tried To Think Of You Today
I followed you today in my mind
& saw you in your most secret moments:
……………you did not know I followed:
I am a master at camouflage
pretending to be a magician
A midnight pilgrimage I made
last night as if in dream
with the full moon on the rise
to your ancient window in the east
…………….but found no candle burning there
…and just as well I guess;
there was something I needed to tell you
……………something I wanted to say
……………but I could not find the words
I journeyed to your doorstep in the dark
with the universe humming at my feet
and stood weeping on the green sad lawn
……………because I could not write this poem

It makes me feel sad with him and want more. I also wonder whose watching me. http://www.looseleafnotes.com/2019/04/the-view-from-the-floor/
agreed. Creepy and poignant at the same time. Next time, tell her you’re on the way, maybe she’ll light that candle.
Beautiful poem you could not write. And yes, very sad.
Wow, such pain in this poem, it touched my heart – the words we cannot say, the poems we cannot write. The emotion, unheard by the one we most wish to hear us. Been there.
So sad, to feel unheard and unseen, so difficult to express, you have done it so well here,,,
The pain and longing is so palpable here!
A sad poem about longing but also, the part about standing on the lawn….well…I had a lover to that until I called the police.
Oh, to want so much to find the words, write the poem, and just be left with longing is so heartbreaking.
