He tries to set a good example, despite the fact that few of those for whom he hopes to set it actually have anything more than only a scant and half-hearted interest in change, if any interest at all. Still, because he is an altruistic human, and because he recognizes that—especially in a world as dismal as this—even the slightest show of positivity could be the tiny spark from which the massive wildfire might spring, he nonetheless ignores the likelihood of being ignored and tries to set the best example he can.

  1. I gave up on setting a good example. Now I just do my best strictly for myself.

    As to shoulder surgery, I’m sure the precautions will be quite different. For one thing, you can’t put a leg in a sling.
