On Prospect Hill

prospect

If the wind is right
you catch a bit of highway drone, maybe;
like some truck, hauling it up toward Newport—
or a sunset chainsaw,
snarling, but far away.
Otherwise
it’s only crows; almost always
only crows.

  1. yep, we got one of those too–sometimes in the morning on an east wind we can hear trucks on the highway below starting ahead of the morning commute, and then the commute that gently takes over the silence–I’ll take the crows anyday

  2. heh…a bit out of the way eh? it funny too how the wind can carry a bit of that sound…i grew up on in the sticks…but everyone once in a while, you would….
