  1. A great though sad list. We have a memorial to Otis Redding here where his plane went down. So ironic that he crashed into a bay hours after recording “(Sittin’ on) The Dock of the Bay.”

  2. When Elvis died, I was 12 years old and in a van with my parents as we traveled across the US on a vacation from Virginia to California. We were in Kansas when the news came across the radio.

    When Lennon was killed, I was in high school. My math teacher cried.

    Great list.
