Location: Memorial Building; Hardwick, VT
Description: The Jeudevine Memorial Library poetry series continues on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at 7 PM at the Memorial Building.
Two poets will read from their works each for a half hour. The two poets are Brooke Cullen from St.Johnsbury and Ron. Lavalette from Barton.
Ron. started writing and reading poetry in the 1960s when he encountered Lawrence Ferlinghetti. His work has been in numerous anthologies and journals including The Anthology of New England Writers, And/Or, Apparatus, The Orange Room Review, Pine Island Journal, Comstock Review and Everyday Poets. His work can be found at his website, EGGS OVER TOKYO. He has short deep poems and poems that catch his sense of humor such as the one entitled “I Got Your ‘Grumpy’ Right Here, Pal.”
Brooke Cullen has two volumes of poetry published, Footprints, poems of love, sorrow and hope, and A Heart’s Journey. She also has just published a picture book for kids, Matilda, a Vermont Cow. Brooke’s poetry volumes are beautifully illustrated by Paul Samuel Doerfler who captures the strong images of nature found in Brooke’s poetry. She speaks of the seasons, sorrow, love and the fragility of life.
Extra Info: There will be light refreshments and conversation with the poets after the reading. For more information call the library at 472-5948.
