Music Box

26 Jan

Probably no one remembers that she had a small silver music box.  It played Liebestraum.  It wasn’t silver, really, but I didn’t know the difference when I was a kid, and the way she treated it—so rarely allowing me to open it and listen—made me think it must have been something even more precious than mere silver.

Beautiful. The writing and the music.

I loved music boxes, along with snow globes. It was as if they held another world. I think I had one or maybe only dreamed that I did. A dancing ballerina?
